CEHSI’s 3-Day Training for Women Farmers under HP SHIVA
CEHSI conducted a 3-day residential training program of 2nd batch from 26th to 28th May 2025 in Karnal for 30 women farmers under the HP SHIVA Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank. The training focused on FPO development and included exposure visits to CSTF Ladwa, IBDC Ramnagar, a dragon fruit orchard, and a mushroom unit in Panipat. The program aimed to enhance entrepreneurial skills and promote best practices in agriculture.It also aimed to build leadership and collective decision-making abilities among women farmers. .

CEDSI North-East Dairy Conference
On 15th May 2025 in Assam, CEDSI and the Directorate of Dairy Development, Government of Assam, jointly hosted the North-East Dairy Conference, graced by Smt. Panchali Kakati (ACS, Director Dairy Development, Assam), Shri M.S. Manivannan (Commissioner and Secretary to the Govt. of Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department), and chief guest Shri. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS (Additional Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Labour Welfare Department). The event, attended by over 150 participants, featured expert insights from ICICI, NABARD, and SBI, enriching discussions on dairy sector development.
The conference emphasized the organized dairy sector's role in the Northeast, highlighting tech integration, financial inclusion, and skilling. Stakeholders exchanged insights to address regional challenges and drive future collaboration. .

Promoting Sustainable Sugarcane Cultivation in Ayodhya
The Sashwat Mithas project, led by the Centres of Excellence for Agriculture Skills in India in partnership with UPL SAS Limited, promotes sustainable sugarcane farming in Ayodhya. Ten model plots across one acre demonstrate eco-friendly techniques like water management, soil health improvement, and organic fertilizers. The initiative aims to raise awareness among local farmers about sustainable agriculture for better yields and environmental conservation. A dedicated team conducts field surveys to assess current practices and suggest improvements. These efforts help farmers adopt more productive and environmentally responsible farming methods.

CEHSI Hosted a Workshop on Horticulture Sustainability and Climate Change
The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI), under CEASI, organized a workshop on "sustainable Horticulture Practices Amid Climate Change", attended by over 300 delegates and farmers. Dr. Arjun Singh Saini, HOD (Special), Horticulture Department, Haryana, was the chief guest, joined by Dr. Satendra Singh Arya (ASCI CEO), Dr. Joginder Singh (HTI Principal), and Dr. R.K. Yadav (CSSRI Director). The workshop featured expert talks on modern horticulture, water conservation, and climate resilience, followed by a panel discussion addressing key agricultural challenges and solutions, fostering knowledge exchange for sustainable farming.

CEDSI Organized Orientation Program on Dairy Cattle Feed in Khanapara , Assam
The Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI) successfully conducted a one-day training program on dairy cattle feed at Khanapara, Assam, with enthusiastic participation from 35 women dairy farmers. The program aimed to strengthen farmers' knowledge on scientific and sustainable feeding practices to enhance milk production and animal health. Renowned Subject Matter Experts from the dairy sector led engaging sessions on critical topics such as balanced animal nutrition, cost-effective feed formulation, fodder cultivation and preservation, mineral supplementation, and seasonal feeding strategies. The event highlighted the growing interest among women in adopting scientific dairy methods and marked an important step in CEDSI’s efforts to build capacity and promote sustainable dairy farming in the North-East region.

CEFMI Developed a Detailed Project Report for Escorts Centre of Excellence
CEFMI has successfully crafted a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Escorts Kubota Limited, outlining a roadmap for operationalizing Escorts Kubota Advanced Farming Institute (EKFAI) in Kurukshetra. The DPR includes strategies for infrastructure use, training modules, and skill development tailored to modern farming needs. As part of the report, stakeholder consultations and visits were conducted at Government Departments, ICAR Institutes, Farm Machinery Industries to gather expert insights.

Empowering Women Farmers through Training and Exposure under HP SHIVA Project
The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI) facilitated a three-day training and exposure visit for 30 women farmers from November 30th to December 2nd, 2024. Organized by the Centres of Excellence for Agriculture Skills in India (CEASI) in collaboration with MART Global Management Solutions LLP under the ADBfunded HP SHIVA project, the program combined theoretical learning with hands-on experiences. Participants were trained in cluster development, leadership, financial literacy, marketing strategies, and sustainable farming practices. Field visits to innovative agricultural models, including mushroom farms, integrated pack houses, and advanced irrigation systems, provided practical insights into modern farming techniques. The initiative aimed to inspire and equip women farmers to adopt efficient practices and value-added strategies, fostering community level agricultural advancements.

CEASI and Nuziveedu Seeds Sets Benchmark in Sustainable Farming with Direct Seeded Rice Initiative
The Centre of Excellence for Agriculture Skills in India, in collaboration with Nuziveedu Seeds, has successfully conducted a large-scale awareness initiative on Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) in Haryana, covering 1,050 acres. This initiative was carried out through 200 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), four field days, and an impact assessment study. The program focused on the benefits of DSR in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This significant effort has been widely appreciated, including recognition from the Honorable Governor of Haryana, Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, for its contribution towards sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture in the region.

Assessed the Impact of Direct Seeded Rice Among Farmers in Haryana
The Centre of Excellence for Agriculture Skills in India (CEASI) conducted an impact assessment study with 500 farmers in Haryana who adopted Direct Seeded Rice (DSR). The study evaluated DSR’s impact on productivity, water conservation, and labour efficiency while identifying opportunities and challenges in adoption. A structured feedback mechanism collected qualitative and quantitative data to refine future strategies. Key benefits included reduced water usage and lower labour costs, while hurdles in implementation were also addressed. The findings will guide efforts to scale up DSR adoption, promoting sustainable farming and improved agricultural productivity in Haryana.

Advancing Sustainable Rice Cultivation: The Impact of Direct Seeded Rice in Haryana
In collaboration with Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd., CEASI has transformed rice farming in Haryana through the adoption of Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) technology, benefiting over 6,000 farmers across eight districts, including Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, Sirsa, Sonipat. Through 200+ Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and eight field days engaging 1,000+ farmers, the initiative demonstrated DSR's advantages, including a 30-40% reduction in water use and a 25% cut in labour costs compared to traditional methods, which require 5,000 liters of water per kg of rice.
The program featured Basmati HT demonstration plots, with 500 farmers reporting improved yields and increased sustainability. An impact assessment survey conducted among these farmers further validated the effectiveness of DSR in enhancing productivity and promoting sustainable practices in rice farming.

CEHSI Conducted Plant Tissue Culture Training for Over 140 Female Students at Kumari Vidyavati Anand DAV College for Women
The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI), the horticulture CoE of CEASI, with support from the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), conducted a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) training program on plant tissue culture at Kumari Vidyavati Anand DAV College for Women. The program provided both theoretical instruction and practical laboratory experience to over 140 female students, teaching them advanced techniques in plant tissue culture.
Industry experts delivered extensive exposure to tissue culture methodologies, enhancing the students' knowledge and skills in this specialized field of horticulture.

Empowering Students in Farm Machinery Skills: CEASI's Upskilling Program in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
The Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Farm Machinery under CEASI recently conducted an extensive upskilling program for over 800 students in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, focusing on critical roles in the agriculture sector. The program provided hands-on training across various job roles, including Repair and Maintenance Supervisor (Farm Machinery), Custom Hiring Centre In-charge (Agri Machinery), Pesticide & Fertilizer Applicator, and Harvesting Machinery Operator.
By equipping students with practical skills for managing and operating farm machinery, CEASI aims to enhance their employability and support the mechanization of agriculture in the region.

Capacity Building Program for Dairy Farmers in Association with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil
Despite the challenging terrain and remote location of Kargil, CEASI, in collaboration with the District Administration of Kargil and the Department of Animal Husbandry, successfully organized a 3-day training program for local dairy farmers from September 4th to 6th under the Ladakh Skill Development Mission. Kargil, known for its harsh climatic conditions and limited infrastructure, presents unique challenges for agriculture and livestock farming..
However, CEASI's efforts, alongside the District Skill Committee Kargil, aimed to empower dairy farmers by introducing modern practices for enhanced dairy production and effective livestock management. This initiative sought to equip farmers with the skills and knowledge needed to overcome local challenges and improve their livelihoods.

CEASI and Horticulture Department Kargil Organized 3-Day Training Program to Empower Apricot Farmers with Advanced Horticultural Skills
CEASI, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department, Kargil, is organizing a 3-day training program for apricot farmers, focusing on enhancing horticultural practices in the region. Given the unique climate and terrain of Kargil, apricot farming plays a vital role in the local economy. The training will equip farmers with advanced techniques in apricot cultivation, including improved orchard management, post-harvest processing, and sustainable farming methods. CEASI organized a 3-day residential program from September 4th to 6th in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, for 35 Board of Directors (BoD) members of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) promoted by NAFED and Agrilive Research Foundation. The program was designed to enhance leadership and management skills, improve governance, and promote effective agricultural strategies. Participants engaged in knowledge sharing, skill development, and networking opportunities, all aimed at strengthening the capacity and impact of FPOs in the region. This initiative sought to empower FPO leaders and foster better practices and strategies within the agricultural sector.

Empowered Women in Dairy: ITC and Centre of Excellence Organised Pashu Sakhi Training Program in Indore
CEDSI, the dairy CoE of CEASI in collaboration with ITC Limited, has organized the Large Ruminant Pashu Sakhi Training Program in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This initiative aims to empower 40 selected beneficiaries, known as Pashu Sakhis, by equipping them with essential skills in livestock management and sustainable dairy practices. Participants engaged in hands-on workshops covering nutrition, health management, and breeding techniques, guided by industry experts. “Empowering women in agriculture is vital for sustainable practices and improved livelihoods,” stated an ITC representative. The program not only enhances the skills of women but also fosters leadership within their communities, enabling them to contribute significantly to local dairy production. By promoting skill development and gender equality, this initiative serves as a model for similar programs across India, highlighting the crucial role of women in transforming the agricultural landscape.

CEDSI Partners with Nestlé India to Reduce GHG Emissions and Boost Dairy Farm Productivity in Punjab
The Dairy Centre of Excellence at CEASI (CEDSI), in partnership with Nestlé India, has launched a project to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve dairy farm productivity across 50 farms in Punjab. This initiative promotes sustainable practices through efficient farming techniques and low-emission crop varieties. CEHSI led Hands-On Training in Elite Kitchen and Rooftop Organic Gardening, Showcases Sustainable Techniques in Karnal
CEHSI, under CEASI, conducted a two-day training program titled "Harvest at Home: Elite Kitchen and Rooftop Organic Nutrition Gardening" in Karnal on August 13-14, 2024. The training covered essential topics like home nursery basics, cost-effective organic methods, and advanced rooftop gardening techniques. A demonstration nutrition garden was set up to showcase sustainable gardening practices, including the preparation of organic fertilizers like Beejamrit and Jeevamrit, offering participants practical solutions for growing crops at home using limited space.

On July 15th, 2024, the Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI) marked World Youth Skills Day by hosting a potting competition and plantation drive at the Demonstration and Training Centre in Karnal. The event aimed to encourage youth engagement in horticulture and environmental care. Dr. Joginder Singh, JD cum Principal of HTI Karnal, graced the occasion, motivating participants and highlighting the importance of skill development in horticulture. The event was a successful celebration of youth skills, fostering a sense of responsibility towards sustainable practices and green initiatives.

Conducted in Khandar, Kota, and Gangapur, this program reached 120+ SHGs across 8-10 blocks, gathering insights to create impactful capacity-building programs. This effort aims to boost livelihoods, foster self-reliance, and support sustainable growth for Rajasthan's rural women.

Sustainable Dairy Landscape Study in Punjab and Haryana
CEASI’s Dairy Centre of Excellence, supported by the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), conducted an in-depth study to address challenges in the dairy value chain and promote climate-smart solutions in Punjab and Haryana. Focusing on sustainable practices in feeding, housing, and farm management, the project aims to reduce GHG emissions and improve dairy productivity across Punjab and Haryana. The Dairy Landscape Study included 145+ focus group discussions, engaging over 2,500 farmers to gain insights into the challenges and needs within the dairy sector. Additionally, ground-level surveys were conducted with 3,600 farmers to further understand current practices and areas for improvement. Series of Stakeholder workshops brought together over 600 participants from various sectors, including dairy cooperatives, academia, government, and the feed industry, fostering collaboration and shared strategies for a more sustainable dairy industry.

Empowered Tribal Communities Through Fisheries-Based Livelihood Training in Jharkhand
CEASI successfully completed Training and Capacity Building programs for 700+ ST/SC community members in Jharkhand. The skill development efforts strategically targeted underdeveloped regions of the state. The primary objective was to promote awareness about fisheries-based livelihood opportunities and demonstrate how fisheries could play a pivotal role in poverty alleviation within tribal areas.
